Kratom Ban in Louisiana

Kratom Ban in Louisiana

, 1 min reading time

On 6/4/25 the governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, signed off on Bill LA SB154. The bill bans kratom in the State of LA. Bill LA SB154, is one of the most restrictive kratom bills to date with harsh penalties. This bill will take effect on 8/1/25, once that happens we at Kratompoint will no longer be able to ship out kratom to our Louisiana customers.

Penalties:

  • Possessing less than 20 grams of kratom would result in a $100 fine.
  • Possessing more than 20 grams could lead to up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.
  • Distributing kratom could result in 1 to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to $50,000.

The Future

Although we at Kratompoint do not know if this law will be repealed, organizations like the American Kratom Association(AKA) is advocating for the safe use of kratom. Many other states that have banned Kratom have been debating on decriminalizing Kratom and instituting proper safety measure on who can posses and use kratom.

Louisiana joins the following states that have banned Kratom:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Indiana
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Wisconsin
